My Fall Winter Picks

To get into the upcoming season’s mindset (and to also help budget my purchases) I always like to create a mood board encompassing the vibe I want to emulate.  Instagram and Pinterest are always my go tos in creating my seasonal mindset and for understanding what I am truly lushing over for the season.  Then my shopping list becomes so much easier - if it doesn’t fit the inspiration (I’m talking very left field for me like a pink leopard print one piece - I was tempted by this summer) it becomes much easier to rationalize “remove from cart.”

Once I have my visual for the season started I can then compile a list of products I feel are missing from my wardrobe that I would like to purchase to complete my looks.  I like to do this in google sheets with color coded dropdowns for each category, and columns for me to add in links to options that work for each piece - very OCD of me, I know.  For instance from my moodboard and Pinterest boards I know I’d die to get a great beige felt hat with a super flat brim.  So then I can begin to research products and brands online and add all the different options I can find… once I have a better idea on the market and prices and well as what I want to spend on some other great statement pieces I’m in a much better place to purchase the looks I want at my budget.

So what’s on my shopping list (when I actually put down the sweats and pick up the fashion pieces this season). this fall and winter?

I’m gravitating towards denim in light washes and in more relaxed fits, oversized button downs, thin stretchy turtlenecks I can layer, chunky oversized sweaters in neutral beiges and creams and the cozy pièce de résistance - matching sweater sets .  My overall style leans very casual so white tanks for layering, sneakers, black combat boots, and thick wool socks are also integral to my fall look.  I’m also loving oversized overalls and chunky gold bracelets.

Some other finds I’m looking for include plaid bottoms and shirt jackets, wide leg cream corduroy pants, a cream blazer, The Arrivals Moya shearling jacket, and a silk kimono style robe.

To check out my fall / winter vibe, feel free to peruse my seasonal pinterest board for some inspo and I’ll circle back with my top picks for the season later this week!
